Always wanted to have a go at circuit racing but never been able to afford it? Then the LCCC Affordable Endurance Classic is for you!
Based on the successful Marulan Dirt and Tar Circuits Cheap Car Challenge, this LCCC event is sure to become a highlight of your annual motorsport calendar!
* Vehicle eligibility – standard cars purchased for $1000 (or under), built between 1986 and 2003, 2 litres (and under), normally aspirated, two or four wheel drive, closed top (no convertibles), roll bar and 4 point harness compulsory, semi slick tyres permitted (no full slicks). Cars are largely to remain as released from the factory (very limited modifications permitted). Further vehicle requirements will be available in the event Supplementary Regulations.
* Event format – one hour practice/qualifying, rolling start, four hour endurance race (two x 2 hour segments split by a lunch break), three drivers per vehicle (minimum age 17), lap break out time and conditions around driver stints will apply.
* Other features – transponder timing, professional flag signalling, structured pit stops, awards and trophies…
Cost – $650 per vehicle, $50 per competitor for MDTC licence, $10 LCCC day membership (for non-members).

The Light Car Club of Canberra will be running The Shannons Insurance Tin Bin Rallysprint on March 20th, round 1 of the 2016 Techworkz ACT Rally Series.
The search is on for officials with a number of positions to be filled.

This years Rallysprints are in Tidbinbilla. The move allows us two different sections, 4.6 and the other 6.0 km. These are nice technical bits of road to keep the drivers and co-drivers busy. Sections will be used in both directions for 3 repeated runs, so a total of 66 competitive km. About 10km transport.
Also running the ‘Sunday Drivers’ navigational sub-event again, which runs into NSW, which is about 40km.
Double entries will be accepted, and should be enough time complete the all the runs each, if do not mess about changing over.
Spectator point is on a grassy ridge near the tricky crest in enchanted forest. First car starts 11am. There will be a break of around 30 minutes to reverse the course, which is a good time to grab some food from the BBQ running at in the Service Park. Please support the BBQ, which is fundraising for Camp Quality.
Driving in to the spectator point, starting from Cotter Playground is about 7km total, 4km of gravel. Driving Directions
Service Park and HQ
Service park space is restricted, so competitors will be asked to park excess vehicles and trailers a bit further away.
Meet points are at either HQ or the 2 stage starts. Stage officials meet at their stage starts. When parking at HQ/service please be mindful of the limited space and avoid parking in the service area, park up the side road as on per the service park diagram.

About 1/2 dozen members fronted up to represent the LCCC at the PowerKarts interclub challenge with BMSC. A big thanks to Micheal and BMSC for organizing it, everyone seemed to have a great time.
After the five heats, based on best lap times in the heat, 10 drivers qualified for the final. The final was run as a race with a grid start race, so messing about with “dust gaps” to get a hot lap in. Russ Winks was able to draw pole position and hold on to the end for the win for LCCC.
Hopefully we can get more LCCC members next time to even up the numbers, everyone is welcome. Its a good chance for some Khanacross drivers to try and show up some of the rally drivers, who are slow to un-learn old habits of backing it into the turns under brakes.
Everything is looking good for Sunday, we are getting close to a full field of 25 with a good number of competitors indicating they will enter on the day.
Everyone please remember this is first day of Daylight Saving.

Camp Quality Running On Empty folks will be catering this weekend and will have bacon and egg rolls, coffee, sausage sandwiches, steak sandwiches (“fully loaded”), hot dogs, chocolates, soft drinks & water and fruit.
Events are always after people willing to act as officials. Anyone wanting to assist as an event official should contact email@example.com.
Same stage as the previous events, with some minor tweaks to format, mostly to allow for double entries without adding to the schedule.
There is a also a optional Navigational sub-event to give entrants something extra to do during the stage turnaround break. Note this component will cross into NSW, so anyone doing it needs to have registration valid in both jurisdictions.
